I finally reached the last page! Sure there are a lot of duplicates, but so many interesting variants on markings, placement and construction of say wire-cutters, spare tires, etc., to keep jeepers interested and armed with responses when someone might casually say "they never put that there" or "there were no sprayed-on markings" or whatever. This was a fascinating journey, so thanks to all who contributed. I have a small collection of all-original WWII photos from a friend of mine that I will cull and post one of these days...
