Mystery clips on M38 grill
Some assembly required M38 arrived and the grill that came with it is a different color, so may or may not be a correct grill, but it did slip on the hinge pivots and bolts up to the fender slots. Anyway, four little metal wire clips across the top of the outside of the grill that I would like to know what they possibly could have been used for before I remove them and weld up the holes.
Grill cover? Some sort of insullation blanket hold down? No other clips or holes at bottom or sides of grill. CJ stuff? Any guess appreciated.

Not a mystery; Those are original; field applied loops for the Arctic grill cover. Look on the M series site for installation instructions. Don't weld them up; get the grill cover.

Thank you. I guessed at that, but no other clips. My M8A1 with the plixiglass headlight covers on the grill cover has all kinds of hardware all over the grill and my M151A1 grill cover has turn over clips and gromets all over, so all three jeeps must use three different grill cover attachment as well as a forth for the WWII grill covers.

Yes they do; they all came from different vendors and different years.

The loops on your grill are the type that push through a oval metal grommets in the grill cover. Then a lace (like an oversized boot lace) goes through the loops and secures the blanket in place. I'd leave them as they are legit.

Kaiser Krazy just sold this M38 after about a month ownership. He said it was fun.
