Determining tire age
I have a very old set of tires on my Jeep that I am going to replace however I am curious as to determine the age of these tires. They are Armstrong heatmaster 700x16. Only digits I can find on the tire are 372276. I have googled and have not been able to find anything. Thanks

Re: Determining tire age
For tires made prior to the year 2000 there will be a 3 digit number. For tires made after 2000 it will be a 4 digit number.
Example would be 046 = 4th week of 1976,1986 or 1996. If the number was 226 it would be the 22nd week of 1976,1986 or 1996.
As you can see the old dating system only allowed you to id the year in a decade but not the decade in the century.
In the years after the year 2000 it was a 4 digit number ie: 2216 = 22nd week of 2016 and so on. Much better.
Are there any spaces or dashes in the number that you listed like 372 276 or 372-276. In other words, something that would lend to a 3 digit number by its self. This was a DOT. requirement and i am not sure if it was required on all made for military tires. Also you will usually only find the date code on one side of the tire.
