Sourcing Leaf Springs

Post by Buster1 » Sun Dec 26, 2021 5:46 am

Does anyone have any recommendations for locating quality replacement leaf springs? Ron seems to be out for M38s and mine are looking pretty flat. They’re 70 yrs old, and I’m thinking of just replacing vs re-arching.

Thanks.

QTM is advertising NOS rear springs here https://www.ebay.com/itm/292483257774?h ... SwVoFaqTrS
He might have fronts if you give him a call.

Good luck!

Thanks Ron, those are a great option I wasn’t even aware of. Appreciate it.

I swear I took a set out of a M416 trailer (actually the flat genset version of that series) for my rear GPW replacements back in the early 90's.
I had nothing to loose in the Desert and a scrapyard with generous piles of turned in military scrap metal to sort through.

"Military scrap metal"? Theft of Government Property?

That's a bold accusation, direct or implied.

Mail them home in pieces like Radar O'Reilly of MASH fame did with a whole jeep?

Not an accusation; just reading the words in the post. Piles of military scrap are not personal property. Probably too long ago for CID to be interested, but I can tell you from personal experience with them, (when I was at TACOM) they do read the internet and do investigations. There was a theft of some tank fire control components (GAS), that they found on the internet and we had to work with them to ID where the property came from.
Be careful on the internet.
