Need to purchase two new 12 volt batteries for my M38, having trouble locating them. If anyone knows the brand name , manufacture
model #,phone number that would be a major help.

Yes the 2HNs are correct, but also cost more than gold. I just use the group 56 ones that cost $79 each. Slightly smaller, but they are enclosed in the boxes. I think group 22 might work too.

51R is the go to battery, A touch smaller, but far higher cranking amps. I get mine at the Interstate Battery distribution warehouse. I get "blems". last time I paid $38 each. They are in all my Jeeps and all my Dodges. Have yet to have one wear out or go bad.

That is the one; 51R; I couldn't think of the number. I got them from Farm and Fleet.

For those of you posting sources of batteries it would be a great help if you would provide a location, phone number, address, or URL. I've tried most of those mentioned and either they are out of stock (AJP) or can't be found (Farm and Fleet, Interstate Battery, Star Electric). I know I can get them from other sources but having all the information available would be very nice.

An you may want to consider using a AGM. I have had great luck, use a tender during the winter, they last for years. No acid to spill, do not seem to mind vibration and seem to be the trend in battery technology?
