There is a bit of rust near the gas cap, there is minor rust here and there. My father in law who passed a few years ago bought this as a running good condition Jeep on eBay probably 16 years ago. It has been in the garage since he purchased it. He drove it around the neighborhood once then parked it and it’s been sitting since.

Probably wouldn't take much to get it running. Big boost to your selling price.

If the hood registration number is correct, I think this should be 1951 October or Nov 1951 DOD. What is the patent plate serial number? I see in the video "1952". Very nice M38, John

I note that there is a swatch of red paint on the top of the aircleaner. I had noticed the on a nice original M38 jeep aircleaner on one of my M38’s. Any comments from others on this feature. Sorry to side track the topic. It appears to be a nice jeep that was owned but a knowledgeable collector.

Hmmm. Looks like a later M38, based only on the single wire harness entering the engine compartment and the late stye data plates. All the plates riveted to a larger plate, then that plate is screwed to the dash.
BUT...The serial number doesnt go with the late M38s match, That number is very early, 51 for sure.

So what would be reasonable value of this Jeep?

$8k. More or less. Less if buyer is 2000 miles away. Nice solid restoration candidate and the M38 is the best jeep ever made; more guys are realizing that.

I wouldn't lower my price because the new owner is 2000 mile away...shippings not ideal breaker if someone really wants it. I would get it running and stopping first and the price will go up...
