Need transmission part

Post by Scott in NM » Wed Jan 06, 2021 2:09 pm

Looking for the input gear bearing retainer oil seal on the transmission, part JJ in the ORD 9, 7697572, made of either brass or bronze. It's called many things by mechanics so I will use official nomenclature. Can't seem to locate someone that stocks one. Anyone out there know where I can get one? I've tried Kaiser Willys, RFJ Parts, Army Jeep Parts, etc to no avail.

Ken,
I've not called but it is not on their parts list. Worth a call though, thanks.

It's not Brass or Bronze, it is a felt seal with rubber facings and just slides onto the M.D. Gear before installing the M.D. Gear Retainer.
I can't believe that none of those vendors you referred to do not have any.
Try the Willys Part No. for the Oil Seal. It is 645980.
The Clutch Pilot Bearing is bronze, tho.

Joe, I was getting bummed when first reading the first part of your post, I'm familiar with that felt washer. But then BINGO, you identified the bronze clutch pilot bearing. Being a transmission newbie, wasn't familiar with it but now it's identified.

The felt washer is part of all rebuild kits I've seen. Now I just have to find a replacement clutch pilot bearing.
