Hi
With a 24V system you may consider using the more modern M151 MUTT wiring harness to upgrade your M38 wiring. I did this on my M38, and it worked well. It uses the more modern single cylindrical connector headlight switch. It also uses the more modern rubber Packard connectors and the wire is rubber insulated. I wrote a description of my modifications in another thread and here is the link:

Good luck with your project.

Here is a photo of where I modified a M151 Mutt harness to my M38 headlights. I incorporated my original metal Douglas connectors into the M151 wiring to keep the under-hood area more original looking. Most of the rubber M151 Packard connectors, are out of sight. You can also see here were I made a "crossover" right headlight harness from the M151 headlight harness that ran up the right inner fender of a M151.

I have used M151 wiring harnesses on M38s before and am using a M151 and part of an M35 on my M606.

I think that "MUTT" is just a nickname for the M151 and M151 A2 quarter tons. I actually think the harness I used was off a later M151 A2.
