Hello,
I have my M38 since 1998. I bought it in bad condition and completely overhauled it.
Some years back, I bought a winch and PTO form a guy in Texas. I believe he said that it was the genuine one for the M38.
The winch has been laying in my garage for years. I never got up to installing it. In fact I just unwrapped it last week.
Judging from forums and internet research, I am positive that the winch is not original for my jeep.
It is a Konig, I know that. But which model? And will it fit on my M38? Any ideas please?
Jef

That is a Koenig 51 PTO controller and Koenig King model 100 winch. The package was sold as a "Model 131J" for fitment to -2A, -3A, -3B, and M38 Jeeps.
M38s only came with factory equipped with the Ramsey Model 50 winch and the Ransey Model 105A PTO controller.

The PTO looks more like it is for a wagon of pickup?

And the Tooth Count on the CJ PTO's of the Koenig Winches Do not match up with those of the M-38/M-38A1.

The Koenig model 41 was for the utility vehicles and has less drop (sits closer to horizontal under the floor). The 51 shown in the picture above has a steeper drop to put the winch driveshaft below the clutch control linkage on a CJ.
Not sure what you mean here. The dog clutch on the input gear in the Spicer 18 transfer case has the same 15 teeth regardless of the input gear spline (6 or 10)/tooth count (26, 27, or 29) and that is the part that engages with a PTO so they all fit regardless of MB, GPW, GPA, M38, M38A1, CJ-2A/3A/3B/5/6.
