M38 fuel line

M38 fuel line
I have a 1951 M38 that has a clear plastic see through fuel filter. When I shut the engine off, I can see air bubbles coming from the fuel pump into the fuel filter. Anyone have an idea what causes that?

No but realize that those filters do not actually fill up with gas, so there is air in there; makes me nervous too. But they work, somehow.
Get one made of metal; that way you can't see inside.
