interesting, can you post some pctures ?
i think it would be better to install the exhaust without any tension in it
with rubber hangers)
mine does not make more noise than the first non original exhaust in rubber hangers
but indeed it could be better with rubber hangers
i find that the original M38 exhaust makes more noise than the mb exhaust

The repro systems are kind of sad, at least the ones that I've seen. They don't fit quite right, and one of the mufflers was so restrictive the engine didn't run well. I now have a complete civvy Walker exhaust system waiting to go in. It's top quality, with aluminized steel throughout.

Re: M38 exhaust system
I know this is a very old thread but I just replaced the the long exhaust pipe on my M38. Yeesh...I had to use rachet straps, jacks and a torch to bend the pipe into place and make it line up properly. Finally got it but way too much work for a "simple" job. PS...I bought the pipe several years ago and don't recall the dealer.

Re: M38 exhaust system
Hi Johnny,
If it helps, there's supposed to be a 3/4-inch spacer on the bolt that holds the clamp for the long pipe to the frame (it lowers the pipe 3/4-inch).
Could help solve fitment issues with an original pipe. No telling about re-pop pipes.
Watch out when buying. I've heard some vendors mistakenly sell or mix up re-pop long pipes between the M38 and M38A1. They're close, but not the same. The M38 pipe is a couple of inches shorter than the M38A1 pipe.
The part number for the spacer is in the M38 ORD9 manual.
As I recall, it's easy to overlook because it's not listed with the bolt and clamp (where most folks would expect it to be).
Good luck!
