1952 M38 Under hood battery tray
Hi guys,
I’m looking for the battery tray that is welded to the frame under the hood,I’ve seen various different reproduction battery trays but none that look anything like the M38 one.
Does anyone know where I could buy one from,or does someone have one on an old chassis.?
Many thanks.
Paul.

Yep, the one on my M38 was hacked off. I searched for a repro and there was at one time a guy from Brazil that made them. But I never found out who that was or how to get one. I saw a picture and it looked spot on.
Since then I bought a junk M38 and took that battery tray off and will use that.

Yes seems to be nobody manufactures the battery tray,I wasn’t sure if the CJ was similar enough to be made to fit.?
Mine has been re welded further forwards for some reason,I will try and take it off carefully and re weld in the correct position.

Might be one there today or tomorrow, but in 5+ years I've never seen one on fleabay --- not still attached to a frame anyway.

OK, another option; get a CJ3A one and shorten it. They are taller so the big box wouldn't fit.

If a person had one of these, what would be a fair market price on it?

Google "Willys Jeep Battery Tray" and you'll get plenty of hits for repop trays for CJ's and MB's for $40 to $80 bucks.
If you have a solid original M38 tray (not ate up with rust and carefully cut off) I'd guess it might take at least $80 to buy it.
