Slave receptical cable replacement

Post by Rick E. » Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:38 am

I have an original slave receptacle for an M38 but the cables are garbage. All of the insulation is flaking off. I have a new replacement without cables. My question is how do the cables fit into the receptacle? There are a couple of cylindrical pieces that I assume go on the cable and then slip into the receptacle. Thanks for the help

My cables were like yours; good inside but the outer covering was cracked. I got some black shrink tubing and put that on; looks like brand new cables now.
The later replacement cables are the short type.

Cables are soldered into the holes. strip 1" off the cable ends, tin and solder the cable ends. Melt solder and pour into the holes then insert tinned cables (one at a time if you have to).

Sources for cables:
Another Slave cable receptacle off an M151 or other vehicle which you can then cut the cables to shorter length for yours and not have to mess with soldering the cables into the head (still need to solder the end pieces)

Welding cable (new or scrap yard)
Old heavy Duty jumper cables or power wire from scrap yard
old junk yard truck or Mil vehicle which you can remove cables from.
