Well I am discovering it is a hodge-podge that still looks cool but has been patchworked together. It has a ford data plate but has drain holes in floor board- rear seat side panels are flat plate on one side and grooved on other side - but man we have fun puttin around town in it.

It is only natural to want to take a new toy right out and drive it around but you really should tear down the wheels and breaks and give all a good going over. I will bet 75% of these things sold used have bad wheel bearing and worn axle u-joints. Remember, you have 12 u-joints to check and grease! When I got into mine I found that someone had add DOT 3 brake fluid to the existing DOT 5 silicone fluid that the military uses and what I had was basically a gelatin for brake fluid. Two of my wheel bearing were completely dry and toast the the others were all desperately in need of service. My transmission was also half full of water from condensation. So first thing should be a complete fluid change on everything from motor oil to differentials and then brakes and bearings. THEN tires and you can start safely driving it.

I bought an A2 off an older guy last November. Decked out with a bunch of bells and some whistles. After removing all the junk, crap, accessories , I got it down to a basic M151A2.

This is what I found.
Brakes out of adjustment, ALL U-Joints needed replacing, clutch out of adjustment, steering box loose and out of adjustment, cracked in the fuel tank, wrong fuel tank vent cap or connector, noisy rear end.

But, Hey, it runs perfectly. Fires up with little or no choke.
Sputters a bit, but not bad.
