did you ever fabricate the side curtain vertical rods ?? re: " for sale " tue october 3 2017 or does anybody know where I can get two? Geo. @ Army Jeep Parts doesn't have any

I never did make mine since I found some for sale. they should be fairly easy to make but right at this time I am not set up for it and I have several major jobs to try to get done before I could even think of making some.

First of all I want to thank everybody for their help & patience! I found some 3/8" rod & made my own side curtain vertical rod's, Army jeep parts had the pins that are at top of rod. The advice on here is spot on ! for example my rear axle half shaft U joints when greased did not show grease at ALL 4 caps & sure enough that journal was ate up by grease worms! Before you say DUH I don't recall that happening in 50 years of maintaining farm equipment. Yes we have had U joints fail & honestly don't recall that we observed to see if all 4 caps squirted grease. Just finished installing a n.o.s. 2910-01-029-2796 kit in my 13660 zenith carb. & researched the tech. questions here & G838 . The following terminology & figure# & item # are from 34P Jan. 72
There was mention of an extremely small O ring that went on the ( figure 3-3 item#36idle jet tube assy.) but the 34P only shows a small ring on the ( idle mixture screw item# 7 , the ring is item # 10 ). also my idle mixture screw is so short that it is recessed down in the threaded hole therefore no spring or washer. The choke butterfly was mounted wrong to where the little spring loaded relief valve would not open under high enough vacuum .
now the questions: will my carb kit get ate up very quickly by 10% ethanol ? ( mfgr. date 1988). do I have the wrong idle mixture screw? did I install the choke butterfly wrong? Will my wife ever think this project is worth it?

There is an additive to put in the gas to counter act the alcohol in the gas(star-tron)

Star-tron will not counteract the alcohol, it will stabilize the gasoline for about 6 months but if the moisture content in the gas goes above 7% you will get phase separation where the alcohol drops out of the gasoline and goes to the bottom of the tank. This is bad for many reasons but the worst is that when you start the engine you pull in straight alcohol. In of itself this is not a disaster if you recognize it right away and drain the tank right then and there, drain the carb and get some fresh gas through the system that day. It is going to have put a hurting on anything rubber like the fuel lines and diaphragms in the pump. Also, the alcohols is highly hygroscopic so it will have also brought in water with it. The tank will have rust in after that scenario.
Now, To answer your questions, The carb itself will be fine, the accelerator pump will probably be shortened by a couple years but I have pulled many of them out that were not bad and had been running on that gas. Above 10% is when you start having problems. The idle mixture screw is the right one for the 13660 emissions carb. I have no idea if you put it in right since I can't see it from here, when it is open the post points down and will touch the bottom of the carb. And NO, your wife will NEVER think the project is worth it. Talk to Hambone and get lessons in wife bribery.

I got enlightened by Rickf's answer as I thought star-tron neutralized the alcohol damaging effects on the rubber of which were it ate holes in the rubber.I better refresh my memory with research 1st when replying, or better yet get a better thinking brain! LOL

You have to remember I have been dealing with this since alcohol was introduced to gas. I actually knew about alcohols detrimental side many years before since I used race cars and boats running straight methanol.
