Last item to complete; hood numbers. Is there a listing of numbers related by vin # or date of manufacture so I can determine a hood number close for my MUTT? Looks like it was made in 1972 but do not have a fire wall plate or original dash plate.
Thanks, Mike

Re: HOOD NUMBER DATA BASE
Well, M151's never had VIN numbers and if you don't have the dash data plate then there is really no way to truly identify it. How are you coming up with the 1972 year? That year they were made by both Ford and AMG. If Ford there will be a body build tag on the cowl and if AMG there should be a tag on the trans tunnel on the drivers side about where you right ankle would be. IF nobody has remover either one. With the numbers off of those tags Ken the Muttguru can give you a very close date of manufacture on the vehicle. I know people just guess at hood numbers and use them but I have a problem with that. Some states use the hood number as a registration. Suppose you pick that same number and it turns up on the national database as a duplicate vehicle? Now BOTH vehicles are going to be impounded until things are figured out. Which they may never be since there are no official records on the 151.

Re: HOOD NUMBER DATA BASE
Well, the 1972 is on the title but the vin# on the title looks like it came from a 4th grader. There is a place next to the brake filler on the cowl with 4 holes that look as if there should be a tag. I have not looked for a tag on the tunnel. I really do not want to use a made-up hood number as we can use the hood number instead of a license plate here in Texas; like you said, could be a real problem. Will see if I can find an AMG tag!!
Thanks, Mike

Re: HOOD NUMBER DATA BASE
Is it an A1 or A2? Some pictures of the side and under the hood would help to get closer to a date. Does it have floor drains in the side panels near the front of the drivers and passenger floors or does it only have floor drain scuppers? The Body tag on the cowl would be centered right over the valve cover.
