151A1 wiring harness

Post by Kens66mutt » Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:38 am

I'm new to the site. Why are M151a1 wiring harnesses almost nonexistent? I'm tempted to go with the A2 and hope for the best.

Tha A1 harness dried up years ago, A2 harness is your best option, Vintage Wiring will build you one if you have deep pockets.

The reason they dried up in exactly that, they literally dried up/out and fell apart. The A2 harnesses were built from a different compound I think since they do not degrade like the A1 harnesses do. As was mentioned, Vintage wiring will make a perfect replacement but you will pay dearly for it.

The A2 harness is actually missing the #77 wiring circuit for the electric fuel pump used on the straight 151 and the A1. But that can be easily added in, it is only a 3 wire circuit. Or you can use the wiper motor wire but I do not advise that since it eliminates the safety switch and the pump is on all the time the switch is on.
