finally got around to installing my rear winch. Before I started I had to remove some home made bumper brackets I had in place for many years until I purchased some and had in storage was just waiting until the right time to replace. in order to install the rear winch bracket was a good time. So I had to replace home made mounts with NOS type mil spec mounts.
Image

Working by myself you learn the tricks to use racket straps as the two man lift.
Image

Once I had all the brackets resolved I began to replace the factory A frame bolts and reverse them with new 3/4 10x6 grade 8 bolts. I have to tell you those bolts on the A frame bushing are tight  . I used my floor jack to break them loose  . So now how to remove and replace the bolts. Thanks to Ted on his idea of jacking the HMMWV up and placing a floor jack on the A frame so not need to remove the springs. I placed the jack at the bushing point and placed jackstands on the cross member then began to hammer out the bolts while sliding the replacement 6" bolts from the inside out in order to mount the winch mount. By the way I placed a cushion on the spare tire to keep from hitting my head.
Image[/URL]

Once that was resolved, placed it on the floor jack and up went the winch and mount. Drilled out four 9/16 bolt holes for the rear mounting placement all good now, next the wiring and lines.
Image

All mounted next is working on the hydraulic lines and electrical. So I need some help here with some ideas and solenoids configurations and wire diagram. I know there are a few folks that have done this but I never received any response for information. Any help out there will be appreciated. Going to watch some NHRA today.

looking for the body valve item #10 which is NSN: 4810-01-485-8109 I believe this may be a cross reference number #12469437 the TM has 994-95000470-C. I called a few places which state the cross reference number. The needle in the hay stack part.

I would need items 4 & 5 as well

just purchased this hard to find valve. It took some creative thinking to get it from mile marker. Just awaiting all the other parts to arrive to start putting this together. I'm going to maybe place some jumpers from 785A & 758B to a two way toggle switch to solenoids to allow both winch's to run sperate with the same controller. The toggle will power them up. I know no other way. Then loop the hydraulics I think. Again once all parts arrive I have to figure it out.

Going to have to build the bracket unless someone has one?

ok just received my hydraulic valve from mile marker. In fact it only took a week when i was told when I ordered it that it may take up to 8 weeks.

Here it is nice and new
Image

Making the bracket out of flat stock. I had no breaker/bender so I had to be inventive using vice grips and a hammer.

ruff in before sanding and paint.
Image

I notice the location has to be on this side because of the control box and the shape of the hood. Right where it goes the hood flares up allow for the room.
Image

Image

ok this part running lines along side the frame away from the exhaust and up around the frame up to the valve.
Image

after connecting the lines now Im working on trying to obtain a y splitter fitting. More to follow.

Connected all the lines I need to update my status. Been busy working on house taskers.

Connected all my lines

Wasn't really sure the way to supply fluid so I double the lines for the supplier and return by adding a T-fittings.

Using a two way toggle switch to power up the winch's until I can find a power cord. Image

So T-Fitting the lines was a bad idea because when I would try to power it up either winch I had no hydraulic pressure. I figured it had to be routed wrong but I had no idea. Load and behold I was contacted by Jim aka: shoveldead who provided me the correct sequence of routing the hydraulic lines for two winches. After taking his advise both winches operate with no issues in both speeds. What a "genius" Jim thanks to you I'm another proud owner of two hydraulic winch's. I will post some "Barny style" systemics tomorrow. Going to get cleaned up.

Here is the schematics for the hydraulic lines for a two hydraulic winch configuration. Again thanks to Jim, aka "shoveldead" who put this together and saved me tons of hours trying to figure this out.

Getting ready for the transmission conversation. Crazy question, does anyone know the measurements for the trans lock and transfer indicators location above the shifter?

Just removed my old transmission 3I80 and started to install new transmission 4L8E
Image

Got it mounted and moving on.
Image

installed new shifter and new parking brake
Image

Image

Ok I just bolted down the bell housing bolts. I had to order the different cross member so I have it resting on a jack stand until it arrives.
Image

Going to take a break for now. Next goal is to finish up the torque converter bolts, cross member, hydraulic lines, shift linkage, exhaust, drive shafts, wire harness and drill holes for transmission / transfer indictors. Going over the notes from Augi's posting which is really good stuff.

Installed shift leakages and indicators.
Image

Image

I was installing the hydraulic lines to the transmission, does it matter which fitting supplies the transfer? or which one goes directly to the transmission? The way I was going to run the lines:

line #1: from front frame fitting to transmission front fitting #2
line #3 from transmission rear fitting to the transfer inner fitting #4
Line #5 from outer fitting on transfer to rear fitting on frame #6
Image

Will this work?
