4l80e military and civilian differences?

Post by erasedhammer » Thu Dec 08, 2016 5:38 pm

So I see on ebay the surplus military 4l80s but I also see the regular GM 4l80s being sold for a lot less, any differences between the two?

civi gm one:

military one:

I don't know if posting auctions on this forum is against the rules, but if it is, go ahead and delete it.

The military unit runs on 12 volts like a civi Transmission, but it is an RV Spec Transmission so it is a bit more heavy duty. A 4x4 civi trans will work and the electrical connections are the same, but make sure it comes with or you use a torque converter for the 6.5 diesel engine.
