This is my current radio setup (or lack there of) for my truck. I plan to put an RT524 and RT442 in it that do not work and have the parts gutted out of them for the most part. I then plan to have a speaker and inside the 524 and a way to connect an Ipod to the speaker through the front plate and listen to music without needing to do all of the battery modifications. I will then have a radio setup that looks the part and plays music when I want it to.
So if anyone has a RT524 or RT442 that doesn't work and missing the internals but looks decent, then let me know!
Thanks,
Corey

Re: Radio install with modifications
Here are a few more pieces I had from previous projects laying around.
And I may have possibly found a set of display radios for $205.

Corey,
What do you mean by all battery mods? for Ipad or you have an amp for the speakers you need to run?

Re: Radio install with modifications
What I was looking at was doing a radio inside of a RT524 instead of needing to tap one battery for a 12v feed and installing a generator to supplement that, or an inverter to go from 24v to AC or 24v to 12v in some other fashion.
Those all seem like a lot of additional work and changes that I don't really want to take on.

24 AC? I presume this was a typo.
Just get a 24v DC to DC downconverter to run your device. Put it inside the RT-524 (plenty of room); Another cheesy way to do it is to use a resistor with a heat sink but that is turning power into heat for nothing. Not that the DC to DC is very efficient but more so than a resistor.
