Spark Plug removal
I have undone the wires, but the remaining "plug" is too long for my Spark Plug Socket. is there a trick or a source for an XL socket???

Re: Spark Plug removal
Hi Charlie,
There is a stamped steel tool that several suppliers sell for shielded spark plugs
https://www.willysjeepparts.com/Spark_Plug_Wrench.html
I use a deeply broached 1/2 drive deep socket, then adapt down to 3/8 ratchet. Snap-on works. Sunex doesn’t, broaching is not deep enough. In a pinch, i’d cut & weld two cheap sockets together.
Suggest you use copper washers on the plugs (same as included in the Mite’s gasket kits) in lieu of the steel seals on the plugs.
The copper washers fit & seal better around the steel spark plug inserts.

Re: Spark Plug removal
I just use a 1/2 drive deep socket an be careful tightening the plugs.

Re: Spark Plug removal
Normal Craftsman, Snap-On, Bonney, Proto, etc 3/8 drive, 13/16" Hex Sparkplug sockets will not fit over the barrels of water proof spark plugs as they have a rubber insert to protect the porcelin on conventional spark plugs. A 3/8 drive 13/16" Hex conventional 6 point deep socket will do the job as it does not have the rubber insert. (A 1/2" Drive 13/16" Deep Socket works great too).
Use caution when installing the wires on waterproof sparkplugs, if the nut is too tight it can curl the end of the barrell over so that it grips the red insulator and it may cause it to tear the rubber insulator on the wire when you try to pull the wire out of the spark plug.
Best to tighten the brass nuts just finger tight as you are not going fording.
