Wiring for a 6V siren

Post by carmen » Tue Feb 08, 2022 4:03 am

Can someone PLEASE give me a detail wiring diagram on how to correctly wire my siren? When I hook up the siren directly it is very very loud, yet when I wired it up it can hardly be heard.
Thanks

Carmen

Hello Carmen

Here is the wiring diagram for the horn.

SINGLE_POST_HORN_MOD2.jpg

The horn needs high power from the 6V battery and is connected to the Ammeter post through a circuit breaker.
The horn negative connection is grounded through the switch located in the steering tube through a collector.
That collector needs to be perfectly clean and in good contact with the brass ring around the steering column.
Otherwise you can only hear "rheu rheu..." instead of a strong and friendly "Mip Mip".
Ag good information is shown here :http://legacy.1943mb.com/c-97-G503_WWII ... store.aspx

I have to do some contact cleanup and maintenance once every two year to keep the horn working correctly.
It is a must for my grandson.

SIREN
Sorry for the confusion. So the problem is likely with the wiring. Wire gauge , grounding ...
A siren draws a lot of power.

search in the knowledge section, it is there someplace. ground is through the base so at least one of mount screws need bare metal on the fender and siren. Little wire sticking out goes through the dash siren switch to ?
