Actually. the "Boards" I used were left over uprights from the rear body hoops I had made for the G506 and measured 3" x 1 and were made from Hickory. I guess the weight of the ammo box plus all the tools and jack etc in it came to 50/60 pounds and it has not moved at all.
I have found it most convenient i n use, plus you can use it as a little table!
I still cannot post my photos as they are too big
Cheers

I kinda like the idea of one like this:
Bumper Storage.jpg
Maybe a flat wooden case for a couple artillery rounds?
Or make one that is wide enough to span the frame horns and set it on them.
Then drill four holes close to the corners inside the box so they don't hit the frame horns.
Then make two boards about the same width as ammo boxes (maybe 1/2" thick by 3 1/2" to 4" wide?)
These go UNDER the frame horns and are the same length as the crate on top of the frame horns.
Using some all thread, make four long sections and attach good sized flat washers, lock washers and nuts on all four sections inside the box and under the frame horns.
Tightening them would secure the crate and keep it from bashing in your grill or bouncing off on rough roads.

The main advantage here is you can remove it in ten minutes and there is no damage to anything or any evidence you had it there in the first place with nothing more than a spot of 33070 if needed.

Of course you might find carriage bolts long enough to use with the heads in the crate to keep from damaging anything inside....

New to the forum, and late on parade for this thread.

But for anyone interested I found a Anti-Tank mine box is just the right size to sit on the horns and not cover to much grill.

I’ve put a wooden bar between the horns and bolted through holes drilled through bottom of box, clamped in place using rounded coach bolts so they don’t protrude - as previously mentioned , this means no need to drill metal.

The rope runs round the back as a spacer , so it opens and stops direct rubbing on the grill... It’s not a huge space , but enough for tools, oil and small Jack :)

Guys do how do you keep the bedroom on the fender?

I can see that maybe trapping rope under the hood would work but I'd love to hear of any evidence

I would assume that additional footman loops were installed to keep bedrolls on the fenders.
