Armour - Bazooka jeep style

Post by chrisnz » Wed Jan 09, 2019 9:39 am

I would like to do a baoozka jeep for a display, I would like to make the armour out of ply, does anyone that have replicated this in the past have any plans/measurements etc for a similar project?

Looking at it, I would imagine the top corner of the passenger cutout slot was originally straight, and somehow the armor fractured and dropped a section off. It doesn't make sense for them to scallop out that side, making it harder to produce in the field or such. Likely started life as a piece of halftrack side armor plate.

Friend Lee Barlow used to make repop bazookas to the correct specs down to the wiring gauge, etc. He had pointed it out it was two styles of zooka, an early and an A1 (from memory) note the forward handle placements are different.

I would recommend a piece of 1/8 mild steel for the front, easy enough to have it plasma torch cut now and look more like the original if your going for it.
Sorry no measurements.

Who thought this was a good idea?
