What's size flathead did you use? I've thought about putting a 85hp in a CJ2A. What transmission did you use?

I used a 8 EBA engine first, but that needed a full rebuild. Now it has a fresh french copy of the flathead. I think it has arround 85-95 hp. It has a T90 gearbox behind it with an adaptor plate.
I used also the original steering system, only the pitman arm turns between the block and the exhaust manifold. Very narrow, but it works perfect.

I was bored and started re-reading the old threads.

Just wondering if the OP went through with the swap and how it came out?

Also, thoughts on the flathead Ford swap, those engines are prone to running hot due to the exhaust ports having a long run through the cooling passages. Your cooling system will need to be very efficient.

Before this virus came out, I was ready to go and pick up an old cj. It already had a small block conversion done. Was a rustbucket, just wanted the hard parts to do the same conversion without going to the adapter company. I dont really care about frame issues and brake issues, all that stuff is fixable, the main thing is it looks like an early jeep.

If you have some old sears catalogs, the ones for jeep parts, I think the conversion parts were in there too. along with pintle hooks for 25 bucks and the civilian front bumper capstan winch for 125 bucks. Man, back in the late 70's I didnt have 125 bucks or I would have one now.
