Hardtop ID help needed!
Last year I took some pics of a nice unrestored GPW with, which most likely was in service in the Austrian Army after WWII.
The hardtop does not look like bubba made, so does anybody know the manufacturer?
Using the G search I only found one thread showing a probably similar hardtop:
http://www.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.ph ... op#p747666" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The link leads to the page of usarmygermany.com:
http://www.usarmygermany.com/Units/Mili ... 201950.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This might be the same manufacturer.
Could anybody help to ID it? Do you know something more about it? Was ist used in the US as well?
Any info very appreciated

Nice, I would not mind having that on my MB. It reminds me of immediate postwar occupation. It is not from US Army stock.

To be honest, thats the reason why I want to learn more about it. It looks nice to me too! Very close to the hardtop displayed in Nabholtz first edition p. 20 and 22., just with the difference of using the original windshield and wider window areas.
And there is one offered locally right now, which seems to be the same mfgerer:

Re: Hardtop ID help needed!
The Hard Top in "NABHOLTZ" is a Willys creation and there is a bit more information on it in Coldwell's fine book, "PREPRODUCTION CIVILIAN JEEPS". I believe you will find the features on the cabs you have depicted, coincidental, and purely European origin.

Which details of the body make you think its W.O.F. origin? The Austrian Army was not known for using W.O.F. materials.

The lack of Half Door fasteners, but I just realized they may be hidden by the doors.

Re: Hardtop ID help needed!
I am not sure if this picture will help any, but this is a picture of my grandfather's jeep when he served in the US Army and was stationed in Austria in 1945-47. I searched online, because I was curious if I could find one similar. This forum had what I think is the closest match I could find. Again, not sure if this helps any, but I'm having a hard time finding pictures of similar jeeps with a hard top.

The stripes indicate Postwar U.S. Constabulary, aka "Circle C Cowboys".

Thanks! That will help with a bit of my research. I don't have many pictures, but it is interesting to find out what I can. Thanks again!

This may help you, as it did me. I like to give credit where it is due rather than recounting information previously given by someone then recanted with someone else's own spin on its originality. G member maurywhurt posted this back in 2009. It gives a wonderful documentary of the Daimler Benz program begun in 1945-6 for the rehabilitation of US military vehicles under US contract to be used and distributed among the allied nations:

Perhaps it will help you get close to your ID interest - but you indeed have a jeep salad, IMO

Re: Hardtop ID help needed!
I seem to remember reading about a top like that . it WAS an Austrian company called Styer I believe or something along those lines . Rather than rely on memory , I tried to find the article since I first saw this post over a week ago , but no luck yet . If I DO find it , I'll post it here .
