Hi Andy,
Here is an updated version to the seat modification article (shown above). Step-by-Step.
You can use a repo chair or find an old (in need of repair) original chair. The nice thing is that it is a very un-noticable modification.

To big
Andy,
I'm 6'3" 265#'s I cut my seat rail's under my butt and added about 3" to them. Then with a Torch I heated up the back support rail's and bent them back. It really made a huge difference without screwing up my jeep.

The link with the photos & "how to" showing the seat modifications I found very interesting & being 6'4" myself is something I will have to look at.
Can it be done & still keep the original mounting which goes onto the wheel well.?
Thanks for posting this it will be a lot of help.

Do what I did, and buy a Dodge Seriously though I know the feeling. Not only does my belly have issues with the steering wheel, (after lunch though) the canvas top smacks me on the head as it flaps in the wind. Still love it though and I aint changing a thing!!!

Adjustable jeep seats
Guys enough. Fitzpatrick sells adjustable seats. They look nos but have an adjustment arm so a short or tall or skinny or well fed man can sit in it all in the same day. Dont modify the steering column or steering box. Call ron about the seats.

Yes, that is the beauty of this modification. You don't affect any of the original mounting, and the bolt from the wheel well can still be used, and when the modification is complete, you really can't tell its there.hell-fire wrote: Can it be done & still keep the original mounting which goes onto the wheel well.?

That's what I do when I have the chance to sit in the passenger seat.Ben Dover wrote:I believe General Mark Clark was 6'5" and is seen in many photos riding in his Jeep with one foot resting on the fender.

I'm 2 meter (6ft 6" (close to 7")) and weigh around 114 kg.
i have made no changes to steering, pedals, seat....
only thing is different from original is the padding, about 2" of foam.
When driving screen up, i'm looking right at the upper windschreen tube
i have to stretch my neck and look over it
shrink and look through the glass.....
or, most of the time, when weather allows the windscreen is down... when weather doesn't allow, i'm in the passenger seat with the boot on the fender

The shovel is pretty comfortable on the Left side if you are wearing boots!
