Unable to edit ones own post
As per the title, the ability to do this appears to be no longer possible, along with deleting photos from Surface Zero.

Re: Unable to edit ones own post
So why was this feature removed and will it return?

Because Farrell Fox edited/deleted all his posts before leaving and the mods did not want that to happen again. You can only edit your post with 30min of posting it.

It's supposed to be two hours after post.
And FYI, it wasn't just FF who caused this.

Re: Unable to edit ones own post
I'm a newbie here and have no dog in this fight, but I just joined the forum and reviewd the rules so I could agree to them and don't recall waiving my rights to retrieve my intellectual property. If I'm understanding the issue here, if someone posts some specifications or technical information or pictures of their own vehicle, it becomes the property of this site?
What if something that is posted for sale actually sells after two hours? Is the post or thread taken down?
Interesting. I belong to many other forums and have not come across this type of control.

Re: Unable to edit ones own post
Good point, but what I think needs to be looked out is what causes people to leave / get suspended for a period or permanently and with the later there is definite justification in some cases but what needs to be looked at is those who bait , troll and post waffle with impunity which causes some to blow up and end up copping the consequences. Where if a decision was made to eliminate the root cause of some of the talented people leaving or blowing a gasket then G503 would be so much better.
This a fantastic site and I have a lot of people to visit when I can get to the US.
Keep up the good work.

It is too bad that it came to this. It basically made the databases useless as they cannot be updated (Scout Car in particular). But you cant have the threads hemorrhaging good information because someone was ejected.

Re: Unable to edit ones own post
I like the people on the forum. I appreciate the foruum and what it does for our hobby, but my posting style was really cramped by the no edit after 2 hours. When I do a restoration or start a thread, I post as I go, and then clean up everything later. It used to serve as my notepad for a restoration that I could pick up and continue where I left off.
I would do a few steps of a rebuild, taking photos as I went along, then I would spend 30-60 minutes just entering the raw images with annotations and my comments. Later in the evening I would take another hour or so and correct my errors and refine the images and comments. After the 2-hour lock came into effect I found myself doing a lot of cut and paste of entire previous sections and decided that was too confusingfor those reading the thread and double the work.
I now only post with questions and brief comments, and no longer have the energy to spend on keeping my data current and correct.
As a result, I have started a restoration page to record everything I am doing with full edit ability.

I am sorry it has come to that, but I now am able to post whatever, however and go back even weeks later and make corrections.
