Forum sections removed
This is an announcement to let everyone know that two forum sections have been removed; the General Discussion section and the Legislative section. Both of these sections foster discussions not related to military vehicles or related topics and only serve to create a place where off topic posts can and have caused discord.
We would please ask that off topic posts and comments such as political topics or other topics that may cause a discussion to be down a path that will incite argument be left out of posts.
This is a magnificent venue for the restorer of any military vehicle, sales of a vast array of military related items and sharing your military vehicle experiences. It is the fervent wish of all the G503 Team that you have an informitive, friendly environment where relationships can be forged and these wonderful old military vehicles can be kept on the road.
Thank you everyone.

Re: Forum sections removed
Well that was a long time coming and well deserved. I'd like to suggest to take it even slightly farther and encourage people not to post political statements in their signature section. Thank you.

Thanks, that’s really a good idea and a major step forward for the G503 forum.

Thank you. I do not come here to read political discussions, there are other forums for that. I will second Clintm20's suggestion.

Re: Forum sections removed
I can understand some posts or even threads being removed, but entire forums?????
OK, the General forum sometimes got over the top, and needed policing, but the Legislative forum covered a LOT of needed information for the entire hobby. One thread there needed some policing and I thought that had been done and over.
Now where can we go the get information on upcoming legislation that will concern the entire hobby? We have many on the outside wanting to kill our hobby and we need a place to discuss this.
Please reconsider returning the legislative forum or something like it.

Still crazy after all these years.

Re: Forum sections removed
An awful lot of interesting and informative restoration threads must have gone with this. I nearly put my own current ongoing restoration into the General Forum. Is there any way that they could be pulled out, and perhaps parcelled up into an archive or a dedicated 'restorations forum'.

If you are interested in free speech, try the SJC forum. No censorship there. It is a "members only" forum so you will need permission to post there. Send Ernie Baals a message if you're interested.

Same here. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into my 1942 GPW restoration. It was the most viewed thread on the G503. Oh well, guess my photo posting days may be over too.horrocks wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 6:07 amAn awful lot of interesting and informative restoration threads must have gone with this. It was a superb thread, and a real education for me when I set out to do my own restorations. Surely that is the entire raison d'etre of the G503 forum? Your thread is amongst those far too precious a resource to lose.zepher11 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 6:57 amSame here. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into my 1942 GPW restoration. Re: Forum sections removed
How do we access Zeph's thread and the other great restoration info that was in the General Discussion Section?
Please tell me you didn't delete those.
That would be an unnecessary and catastrophic loss of valuable G503 content.
Please advise.

Re: Forum sections removed
Ron, the problem with the Tech section is that there's a lot of daily posts going in, and a completed but still relevant and informative restoration project that has lain dormant for a while such as Zeph's will quickly get lost in the hinterland.
Any thoughts on replacing the General section with a dedicated 'Restoration' section, retaining all those fantastic restoration threads but losing the other non-relevant stuff?
The G is a marvellous resource for restorers and enthusiasts, and it would be tragic to lose all those archive records.
