Fellas, I've merged the thread on pop ups in the general section with Chuck's pop up from hell thread.

It should be noted that these are not actually pop up ads. I mentioned above that pop up ads open in a completely separate window. That still doesn't make them any less annoying though. With ads showing up right in the middle of the thread replies makes even more annoying.

This morning "Ad Count" so far:
1) top of board index
2) between G503 and Vehicle Accessories
3) between Vehicle Accessories and Scuttlebutt
4) between G740 and G843
5) between M998 and Towed Accessories
6) between Other MVs and the bottom

Do all these ads eat up bandwidth?

Are they poaching on the gee or does the gee actually get revenue from Google for ads in general? If they are poaching, will Google do anything about it?

Pretty soon there will be even MORE ads in each thread....you respond to a question posed on the gee and automatically another "WAR THUNDER" or other ad is tagged onto it. Another guy responds to the same thread and another ad follows his post. Where does end?

Still getting a lot of full page ads, pop up ads, ads right in the middle of a post, between the text.

Does not matter whether on the desktop PC or a mobile device....

Getting worse every time I visit and or log on to the forum.....

You are actually getting pop up ads? Remember, pop up ads open in their own separate window. If you really are getting pop ups then there's other issues that need to be a addressed.

Looks like the ad placements are getting doubled up between two different placement scenarios. I'm working on that.
I've never seen any pop-ups tho...

Ken, there are no pop ups. Why people are calling them that is beyond me.

Get it fixed and stop screwing around!

WTFDIK….

There have been ads at the TOP of the forums and at the BOTTOM for ever....those that now mysteriously appear each time you open up a forum are what I call "pop-up ads". If you waste your time clicking on the "X" for each of these "ADCHOICES" that appear before or in between posts and say they are not appropriate or any of their bullsh*t options and then close that forum and then reopen it....those same ads you just told them to STOP posting come right back.

So....to me, those are "pop-ups"....call 'em anything you want, but if you check out some other forums that use this same phb what-ever, they don't have this plague of advertisements.

I mean, c'mon, how many G503'ers really want to play WAR THUNDER anyway? That's time you could be doing something better like sleeping or working on your MV...

Apparently nothing about the difference between a pop up and a regular ad. You call them pop ups and you'll have Ken chasing something that isn't there. These are not pop ups!

I got one that looks like this (4 screens tacked together in an image editor), and they were the only ads on the (relatively long) page of the thread...

so, I'm working on ad frequency and distribution...

Currently working on getting the big ad out of the header. I might have to temporarily disable the board to remove an extension...

Finally getting somewhere, I think. The header seems to be clear now. Still too many and still showing up in the message content itself but at least the controls seem to be responding semi predictably...

Ken...

I the g503 still a "phpBB" format website?

I ask because another "phpBB" hosted website I follow has none of the ads at the top and bottom of every page and none in between forums or between posts in a thread.

Is this somehow tied to google?
