Thanks Sean. I assume you are a pilot too?
Just a quick update, I've been experimenting with making my own F bolts. I found a fairly easy method a GPW owner posted on the web. http://www.darrylsgarage.com/wwiijeep/F-Bolts.htm I made 4 bolts for the F marked pintle hook that recently aquired. As far as I can tell from my research, my GPW is early enough to not have a trailer plug or safety chain eyes. I also made 8 bolts for my repro F marked bumperettes (photos coming soon). I just about have everything cleaned and painted to reassemble the front end. I finished painting the knuckle housings and installed the new studs. I'm still on light duty from my recent surgery so things are still going slow, 3 more weeks can't come soon enough.

Yep, just a private pilot. Flying is my other hobby when I'm not focused on OD! Nice job on the F bolts, too. I've always been curious about trying to make my own...haven't found time yet, though

Matt,
My dads GPW is ser no 30258, that has an estimated DOD of 5/15/42. He used to own a GPW WHICH I BELIEVE WAS IN THE HIGH 30's or 40XXX? I would say, from my limited knowledge, that your Jeep would be a mid to late May 1942 and 100% script.
Have you contacted Tom W on here?

Re: 42/43 GPW restoration
I finally got a few things done. I installed my new repo bumperettes with my homemade F bolts. I also knocked out the front knuckles. I was apprehensive about this task but it was fairly simple. I used a cheap Walmart fish scale and was able to get both sides to read about 6lbs with 4 shims on the top and bottom. I hope to finish up the rest of the front end soon but it's been too hot in the garage.
