My new 1962 M170 Ambulance

I just happened to come accross this. Luckily I was driving down on vacation and only about 60 t 80 miles away. Asluck would have it I didn't have my trailer and and had to go back home only 480 miles to get it. It needs a few things, top bows and litter supports mainly. Also the front tow hooks were sawed apart and unuseable. This was Marine Corp issued, then the Air Force got it for some reason. They the Civil Air Patrol at either March or Norton AFB in southern Calif. Its pretty complete with a big box of extra stuff. Then the seller said he had a matching trailer. I"d been on the fence about getting one and it even matched the 170, faded blue paint and all. Tonite I started it up and checked the lights and they all worked!!

Welcome to the M170 Club.

Good to see you have the original seats and lower litter rails

Wow. Very nice find!

I always love to see what you folks find out in sunny rust free California.....

Looks amazing compared to what rusted hulks we scrape off the fields here in Central NY...

Thanks for posting, and congrats again!!!

Hello,

Any idea on its history? Why is it blue? was it Airforce?

I am restoring a M170 and am thinking of going blue because I am retied AF.

Thanks,

Bill
