lt.luke wrote:... I think evidence shows that while Bubba has had his way with this truck, the hood, frame (such that it is) and bell housing have been together with the remaining tin work since they left the factory.

you are more than welcome to think what you prefer about your own truck's details.

initial question was:
The question is, does the SN and the Hood number "match"?
and my reply was:
which makes unlikely the matching of the two. my .2 cents only...
but, if you prefer to use this level of statement instead:
I think the evidence points the other way
as I cannot see the evidences, this discussion ends here.

What lt.luke meant was that the government assigned hood number corresponse with the batch of GTBs in that number range. Not that they would be the same number as the serial number.

Does anyone want to play "figure this number out"? I can tell by looking at both sides that the hood number is 312-232. So, I need to figure out the fourth digit.

Ok, I just found out that the Brake booster was for the Cargo only. Very cool.

So that makes this one a cargo as well?

Also the member that posted this said (viewtopic.php?f=25&t=203943) "If you want a working hydrovac, that's great, but not necessary. Mine works and it does increase stopping power, but I've driven a cargo variant without one and it stops just fine. Definitely not necessary for parade use. The bomb variants don't have them and used electric brakes for the trailers. If I had to do it over I would save the money and just do a cosmetic rebuild on the Vac and bypass it."

Food for thought, should you have a serious accident and not have the brakes set up the factory installed, it can have consequences, especially if it is registered with Antique or historic plates.

Except that most LEOs won't know what it is, much less be able to assess what is factory or not and will likely have to ask the owner of the vehicle is maintained properly. Fully manual brakes aren't that uncommon on vehicles back them.

You have a surprise coming, law enforcement takes part in motor vehicle autopsies every day, they have decades of experience. Insurance companies also act on behalf of the plaintiff, and there are engineers that specialize in MV accidents.

I will fix mine. Sorry, the reason for the quote was to show Luke that the Cargo version was supposed to have Hydrovac brake boosters
