I chased one of these leads for years about a crated jeep only to find out years ago they took it out and built it :x another wild goose chase was a fellow picker said he knew where some crated jeeps were and had pics to prove it! being from nevada i was hopeful that some lost warehouse on a forgotten base would have one left, the next time i saw him he showed me a pic of a sunken liberty ship with sure enough jeeps in crates you just have to scrape the coral and barnacles off,

The Rosie the Riveter museum in Richmond CA has an exhibit of same. The docents indicated that it took about 5 months to put the exhibit together. For anyone whose seen it, the intent was to give an idea of what the item looked liked. A closer look at the jeep itself exposes all manner of non-Ford items as well. Don't approach the docents (rangers actually, it is a national park), they don't know squat about crated jeeps, or jeeps in general (or at least those that I approached several years ago)

This gets better as it goes along...sooner or later someone in Europe will contact Keirs and make an all cash offer for one of them. Then the emails about one having to get their DEPOSIT in first will go out to any who respond. A more sophisticated scam with either use photos lifted from other websites, or they will have a carpenter knock out a "box" and stencil it accordingly.

Of course they came from a warehouse in CA where they were in dry storage.
Of course the FIL has no pictures of the five crates when he bought them.
Of course they went to Europe where prices are HIGHER.
Of course there are no pictures being posted...they only come when the "fish" is on the line.
Of course the pictures then will only show a crate, not the "jeep" inside it.
Of course you will have to post a deposit via Western Union or some other non-traceable destination at the time of sending it.

But...let's see how this plays out...

Do you think the name of the OP gives a clue as to who in the G it could be?

" I have a bridge for sale in New York City. Are you interested in owning all or part of the Brooklyn Bridge? There will be a closed bid to purchase limited shares in this iconic American landmark. If so, send a good faith deposit to Nigeria via Western Union and don't tell a soul".
