Hmmm...
1) If the small gusset is present in the upper rear corner, it is a FORD fender and not a Willys/ACM fender.
2) The serrations along the perimeter may be faint or Bubba may have ground them down, but look at the ENDS of that rolled feature and you will find a WIRE was inside where they rolled it over...
3) The "F" on the top of the fender can be deep or shallow...can be sanded off easily enough or rusted out over 70 years.
4) The Fender BO light mounting holes can be welded up or added for a retro light addition.

I would let #1 be my guide here...

As to the right side fender....the FORD fender is stamped to fit around the battery. The Willys/ACM fender had a separate piece attached to the fender to fir around the battery...and of course #1 above still holds true.

Chuck, they are both Ford fenders for sure. The anomaly is that they do not appear to be “F” marked but I have seen some GPW fenders with a very shallow “F” on them. Perhaps this is the case with mine.

Do you guys have a reinforcing metal strip, not the classic known one, but on the same edge and on the opposite side (not towards the engine, but towards the road)?

Hi Jean;
Here is the picture of the reinforcement strip.

The two fenders are 100% original to Gpw 3606 (reinforcement, rolled edges, 1 piece inner panel, zinc chromate primer, F marks, original bolts and fabric antisqueak, F marked ground stud, tombstone holes....etc etc).
But I don't remember seing the reinforcement pictured on my other GPW fenders

Yes....GPW 17963 has Ford fenders with the corner gusset and the angled gusset as seen in Fabrizio's pic. I just checked a Dec. 1942 jeep and the fenders also have that angled gusset.

Both fenders of GPW3606 have the big Fs on top, and are original to the car without a doubt
