New Member early GPW

Post by Shotgun98 » Thu May 18, 2017 6:28 pm

Good Afternoon all,
I recently managed to find myself a jeep to restore down here in New Zealand.
She's a real bits jeep but the majority of parts are F stamped.
After scraping off some paint and bog I have found *GPW 1101*
I have consulted Darryls Tub Timeline http://jeepdraw.com/images/Darryls_Tub_Timeline.jpg but was wondering if from the factory it would have been fitted with a willy's skid plate etc.
The photos are not great but best I could get at the time.

I restored GPW 964 and at 1101 you should have an MB frame. The GPW serial number , which you have already found. The small pilot holes for the MB serial number tag would be in place behind the front bumper on the left front frame rail but not drilled to size.
Ford used MB frames in the beginning until they got their frame line up and running.
Other things it would not have, front fender blackout light or Trailer plug.
Would have a Wilson Foundry engine and a flat pancake air filter.
This is if you are lucky. Field modifications ruled once they left the factory.
