GP Swtich Assembly Help

Post by TwoCar » Fri Apr 06, 2018 7:26 am

Hello.

I'm looking for Part Number 11AS11500 "Switch assy-starter push button" as described in the GP parts manual. Does anyone know where I can find one or a commercial equivalent? I found starter push buttons, but they range in a variety of colors. What's the correct color for the button and bezel for a GP?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike.

I found Mac's site as well as C + G Ford Parts while searching the web and I'm usually a person that likes to have options, but not that many when it comes to these. HAHA Can someone point out which one is the correct one or closest to the correct one?

Thanks,
Mike

Correct is the silver button I think Mike. I have seen pics with both though. I originally had a black button one in there and I was told it was wrong. I found a NOS silver one on ebay for like $20 it's in there now. Those ones from Mac's aren't very nice. I've had the back pop out of one.

Yes, they are pretty rough. But as an interim, while you look for a better (original?) example, better than the one you currently don't have!

The front plate folds around the back and is crimped - you can increase the crimp to prevent it popping apart.

In any event, here are a few images to help you decide what you need. (1) an original monochrome Ford image of a production GP body prior to fitting to the chassis (which does not look black or silver to me, but maybe green?). (2) restored example at 2017 MVPA convention and (3) restored example in Canada.

Gentlemen.

Thank you for all of your assistance, guidance and pictures. I found a NOS button on ePay last night and purchased it. It's close and will work for now.
