I wanted to do something different to take to my show in Gilbert this year. Started out with a '55 CJ5 and thought an IDF jeep replica would be change. It still has a couple things that need to be tweeked but thought the guy's here on the "G" would like to see the progess so far.....

Yep,

Thats something you don't see every day ! Nice job ! I'm curious, did the I.D.F. use CJ5s, A1's or something in between ?

Thanks for sharing, J.R.

They used a lot of CJ5's. They had some of the others also.

OK she's done! I freehanded the emblems on the fenders and added some 'fluf' for effect. we'll see what sort of review she gets at Gilbert :D

I like that side mount jerry can holder. Did you have to rienforce the sheet metal? Can you please post a picture of the back side?

Your CJ looks amazing! I am always facinated to see photos of CJ5 Jeeps used by the military (US or international) I did the same thing when I wondered how to restore my 58 CJ5. I had planned to restore it to civilian status and then met a fellow who had a US navy version that I essentially (and faithfully) copied. He was so impressed that he offered to buy it from me

Thanks much! As with most of my projects this CJ was waiting for the crusher, my son thought we could do a US jeep for our show but I felt there were enough 'faux' M-38 A-1's out there so with a bit of research I came up with the IDF idea. Worked out well!! :D :D :D
