M8 fuel pump

Post by m8m20 » Wed Sep 09, 2015 12:49 pm

Does anyone know where I can get a diaphragm for the standard M8 fuel pump from, not the vacuum type, the one with the glass bowl on the top.

Also need some for an M5 Stuart if anyone knows where to get them from?

Many thanks Jon

Hi Jon,

You might consider making the diaphragm(s) yourself....
If you buy fuel resistant diaphragm rubber, it's an easy job.
I've just done this for my half track fuel pumps
If you want, I can post some pictures

kind regards; and success with the job :-)

You need Nitrile diaphragm rubber sheet. It comes in different thicknesses. Most antique parts places will rip you off like there is no tomorrow for it.

Best source I have come across is "Fitch The Rubber Man" in Adelaide South Australia. They post worldwide and price is reasonable. For what you will pay for 18"sq to them including postage you will be lucky to get enough rubber to make one diaphragm from a parts shop.
