M103 Heavy tank chassis

Post by oifvet23 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 3:27 pm

I am looking to offload a M103 heavy tank chassis. No turret and no engine, I am looking for reasonable offers, if I don't get any offers it will see the torch. Located in Connecticut, I'm sure there are a lot of questions but if you don't have the funds for such a purchase please don't waste my time...no track kickers.. serious inquires only :D

If you could tell me how to identify which engine was in it I will gladly find out for you. I want to say gas.

The Diesel version was the M103-A2, it had the grille doors that opened on the back, almost the same as the M60 series and late Diesel M48 tanks. The gas versions had the grille doors on the top deck, like the early gas M48's.

There was an old upside down M103 hull at the tank target range I went to in Idaho/Montana while at the Reserve/NG tank commanders course in Boise ID. We couldn't penetrate the front slope on it with the target practice APDS 105mm at a fairly close range.

It's an A2 hull. You can see the air cleaner boxes on the rear of the fenders between the two stowage bins.

If the hull ends up being scrapped I would be very interested in the torsion bars. Dave
