Fyr Fyter Extinguisher bracket paint

Post by Ladislav » Wed Apr 25, 2018 12:54 am

I am going to install the Ext. bracket in my MA. I have one OD repainted and one in original black paint. Were these brackets OD painted or just installed in black finish paint?

Thanks, Lad.

Don’t know if it helps; but the original single strap fyr fyter bracket (marked « push » on the upper tab) on GPW3606 was all OD, no primer

Yes this is the single strap one. But have not noticed any "PUSH" on the bracket. Have you photo?

Hi; maybe I am wrong about the brand of the bracket; here are the pictures:

The original one strap Fyr Fyter bracket in my 12-41 slat was painted black.

Mark, all the fire extinguisher brackets i have seen are OD. Bear in mind these are restorations though. Wether they were black in wartime, i dont know, im sure there is someone on this site who does. :D

I can only speak for mine which was black and did not have any OD paint on it. It was original to the jeep, the screw heads had the same layers of paint as the rest of the body and I had to actually cut off the nuts as they had rusted round. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of it before I refinished it...

It looks to me according the attached pics: both MA brackets like OD, the Slat grill bracket ,if original attached to this Slat, like black.

Here is a link to my post regarding my Slat:

viewtopic.php?f=69&t=170525

Scroll down to the bottom of page 1 and you'll see a few pics of my early slat (December 41) FE bracket looks like. I say black also.

Chris

Edit: in looking at my pics from that thread I see now, which I hadn't recalled, that the interior area was also sprayed black. So I guess I have nothing of value to contribute. 🙁
