Hi guys, I just bought a 1941 slat grill. Does anyone know what the code FT04051 mean ? It is placed where you usually find MBxxxxxx enfine serial number

What’s the casting number on the engine? What about the casting date?

It might be ETO and not FTO; just found that on a dead 42 GPW block I have at home

Thank you, yes it's ETO (European Theatre of Operations).

Were they grinding the original serial number and stamp the ETO one, or they were coding them from scratch starting from new engines ?
