There is an early cylinder head for sale on Ebay. The cast date is 1-12, is it correct to assume that is 12th January?
Any help much appreciated, many thanks

That is Correct. Jan. 12th.
And in looking at the head that I think you are looking at, it looks like it is a 1942 era Head.

Re: Cast date codes on cylinder head
The head was indeed cast on 1-12-42. It would be correct for an MB delivered in the third or fourth week of Jan 1942.
I’ve been hemming and hawing in this one myself, although it’s technically too late to be accurate on my 1-13-42 MB.

Re: Cast date codes on cylinder head
Thank you for all the replies and Michael O, your Jeep was delivered one day after mine.
It appears most of the original dated items on my Jeep date from Dec 41, which was what i expected.
Am still trying to find that Nov/Dec dated head...anybody?
