What makes this a slat grill rear seat?
What makes this a slat grill rear seat? Just curious and willing to learn. I am aware of the differences between the GPW and MB.

I think slatgrill rear seats didn't have the brackets for the tire pump?

Ah of course, I forgot that
Wasn't it so that the wider the tire pump brackets the later the seat is, say 1945?

I’m not sure if it’s true but I’ve been told slat rear seats are multiple price construction just like the front seats.

David is right, slat grill seats had nothing on them to support a stirrup pump.

Wow! someone paid $555 for a standard MB seat that was advertised as a slat grill seat.

Re: What makes this a slat grill rear seat?
Yes, I was surprised about the going price as well. They adverted it as "1943-45 Jeep Willys MB Ford GPW Slat Grill Original Rear Seat" so there are some contradictions in there as well; "GPW", "1943-1945" <-> "Slat Grill".
Oh well...

Advertising keywords. Maybe someone just wanted a nice, original standard MB rear seat.

Or some newby was naïve enough to trust an Ebay lister that lists everything as slat grill. That price is a lot high for an MB seat.

I beleve slat grill rear seats had no drain holes in the support tracks.

The back rest of the rear seat on MBI0289I was cut and welded back together. The cut was not exactly down the middle of the seat and based on the multi layers of paint which matched both front seats leads me to believe all three seats are original to the Jeep. The seat pan of the back seat was not cut and as expected did not have the mounting brackets for the tire pump?
