A-arm bushings, why are the bushing serrated?

Post by kserumgard » Wed Mar 14, 2018 10:48 pm

Why are the bushings on some A-arms serrated? Here is a pic of what I’m talking about?
Won’t it chew up the mounting bracket?

I believe it's because when the through bolt and nut are tightened, the teeth grip, and the sleeve will twist in the rubber so there is no wear between the bolt and inner sleeve which is not lubricated. When I was doing the camber adjustment on my M1123, I noticed one of my top control arm through bolts wasn't tight enough and the serrations were chewing up the frame bracket and spinning the inner sleeve with suspension movement for who knows how long. Anyone reading this when you get a chance, go over those bolts and tighten them if needed to keep this from happening.

Not sure Kurt, but the new style did away with the serrations....probably cuz they chewed up the buckets.

As RWH said.
I just picked up some nos upper arms, and they have no teeth.
I had some new arms with and without teeth I put on my frame build, but I
ground the teeth off a little, and coated the bare spot so as to be smooth like my others.
