Re: M1165 Build
In a pair of the earlier pictures, there is a red/pink strap/handle attached to the winch cable. What is it used for? I asked a pair of enlisted men at a restaurant near a base in Kentucky and they could not tell me what its purpose is. Where can I acquire one of them? Thanks!

You grab that and pull to spool the winch our rather than sticking your hand somewhere it shouldn’t be. Also holding that strap beats getting little strand of wire rope stuck in your hand when you are spooling it up.RockHillWill wrote:In a pair of the earlier pictures, there is a red/pink strap/handle attached to the winch cable. That is a non military item and I place them on all winches. It is strap to pull out the cable, and allow you to safely reel back in so that your hand does not get get caught and injured.

Hood on (might change to a new one) temporarily.
Bled the Wilwoods (need 1/4" stubby wrench and monkey hands to reach them) and this is not a complete listed proceedure. Your results may vary.
Purged air from brake limiter cans (high point), fixed any union leaks and then bled calipers. Wilwood's have 4 bleeder ports per caliper, only the top 2 are used on each caliper. Bleed outer one first (outboard) for it is away from the line input (inboard side). Start on RR outboard, then RR inboard, then LR outboard, then LR inboard. Then RF outboard, RF inboard, LF outboard and LF inboard. Of course you have to make sure you have DOT 5 silicone fluid and standard pedal pushing procedure during the bleeding process OR a brake bleeder system. If you don't know how to bleed brakes, then take vehicle to a professional. Improper bleeding of brakes is dangerous to you and others and may cause death.
I will end up putting the precleaner on the air intake. Just need one piece to mount it.

Maybe for a bit. Today I drove it on my driveway and checked over all connection. Purrs and spools up nicely.

Re: M1165 Build
Lots done this weekend. Fitted air tower pads, finished battery box with 6TL's, filled truck with fluids, greased, drove it outside under own power, flushed coolant system, installed LED's, hung front doors. Rear doors next. Then shake down tests for there is always something that gives issues.

Re: M1165 Build
Hung the rear doors. Not fully lined up yet. This is a PIA design. The bolts are behind the hinges so adjusting them correctly to close while they are opened,,,,bites.
Need to modify the closing stud and get door gasket material for all 4 doors.
I do not know if I will use these doors or not, have 2 sets. I will try them for a bit, but I might switch to flat X doors. Time will tell.

Re: M1165 Build
Ted, I armored an ECV truck last spring with these doors. We had to make strikers for all 4 doors and they turned out beautiful. We used tool steel for the strikers. The doors closed like a Swiss watch. I'll see if i can find some pics and post them. If you want me to make the striker posts for you, I would bet we still have the CNC program for the lathe.

Here is the rear stiker, we turned the post out of tool steel on a CNC lathe and laser cut the plate.
