Hi Dilvoy,
I tried the stud idea this afternoon (I have 4 or 5 of the long ones in my fastener tray) and as you said, it only works on the inner location.
As we discussed on the phone, the issue is that the inner location needs to be welded in place with the gusset so you can't "wind" the bracket on as it fouls on the water pump pulley as it rotates.
So I'm going to modify the design to have the two legs that bolt to the head machined from 1" steel rod with a 10mm hole up the centre. This will give me legs with ~1/4" wall thickness and with a gusset to help transmit the upwards moment from the belt to the root of the leg where it bolts to the head.
Cheers

Here is the stud that I was talking about.
I just found out that "they" quoted me the shipping rate at a price that was a tad high. Now It can do the jaunt for just $1,750. Maybe they forgot to remove the fuel surcharge when they gave me the first quote.
Anyway, I think the thicker legs on the bracket are a really good idea.

Re: Serpentine Belts
what manifold did you use on the compressor (to connect AC lines to compressor) in the images?
