Im curious, would it be appropriate for me to bring my m1 garand to TP? I am going to wear my HBTs, webgear, etc. and I was hoping to bring my garand but I dont want to bring it if I am not supposed to. Since I am on the subject, I have two completely inert grenades that I would like to hang on my M-1936 suspenders but again i dont want to bring them if Im not suposed to.

Garand at Tower Part
Nick,
The policies of the MVCC are the same as those of the MVPA. No live weapons or ammunition at the events. This does not exclude you from bringing them as long as they are deactivated appropriately. Removing a firing pin or putting a brightly colored ty-wrap thru the action that makes it impossible to fire the weapon or chamber a round are sufficient.
Lot's of our people bring either real weapons or replicas to our events and they are appropriate since they are accessories to the vehicles. Common sense is the key issue when bringing them. We don't want to have anyone hurt accidentally. There are some new California laws regarding replica weapons or dummy guns that you should be aware of though. We don't know how they will affect us right now and they may end up on the scrap heap of gun laws enacted by the non-gun segments of our state legislature. Combine this with their lack of educating law enforcement and almost anything can happen. You can visit the California website here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery for more information.

Thank you for the info. I have a little piece of yellow plastic that goes into the barrel and also holds the breech open. These are required by my local shooting range and these make the gun impossible to load a round as long this piece is in the gun. the force of the breech also keeps it from falling out but I can tie it in. Would this be acceptable? Oh, and Mike, I want a Red-Ryder BB gun for christmas, Just kidding, been there, done that. lol.

Hey Nick,
You'll make Gene Shepard very happy! Just keep an eye out for Scut Farcass.
The range safety block is OK if you can keep it in place. I'd also suggest removing the firing pin. That's a good way to disable the weapon without it being too obvious. An easily removed safety block may not be enough for some people even though it has high visibility. I don't want TP to turn into a full time job of monitoring everything running around.

Tower Park 2005
This event continues to grow..It is a good idea to come early..Grass camping sites will go fast this year. The first of the week is a relaxing time as people arrive you can visit and shop at your leisure..at the end of the week things seem to become more hectic with wheeling and dealing, eating and drinking and just plain socializing. I love this event. Last year we convoyed in to Lodi to the A&W for a "classic" car display. We were a big hit! Not sure what is planned for this year..but I'm sure whatever it is you will enjoy yourself....just my 2 cents. Please look us up when you get there..we will be in site 390..
