Ive been working on my Inlet manifolds as well recently,i had a spare that i managed to get three of the bolts out of but messed up the last on and cracked the side of the manifold if i want to use it i will have to get it brazed like Zeph did on his.
I have another that is the correct one with the high carb mounting, but this one has all 4 bolts brocken off in its im going to give this to a machine shop to look at..
Sorry you are having issues also with the mani. I had to have 3 of the screws taken out and the entire thing was nearly rusted together. Its nice to see the progress and the pic of the correct orientation of the governor on the mounting plate.
Cheers Oz,
Seems to be a problem that everyones having, i also had the same problem with my old M37,same issue, but had the machine shop drill it out and helicoil the thread.
I still need to get the governor off it seems to be inseparable ..? heat and penetrating oil it is..

I'm still trying to separate the intake manifold from the exhaust manifold I broke. Those studs just won't loosen up. I have used all kinds of penatrant over the past month or more, but no luck. May try some heat, but doubt that will work either. If you braze your crack, you should be good to go.
Good luck with yours, if anyone can do it you probably will, that brazing looked great, fortunatley the one i broke wasn't the same it had the low riser.might try and get it fixed if i can't get the bolts taken out of the one with high riser.

I let the PB blaster soak in a little more, and then I used some heat. Next, I attempted to remove the exhaust from the intake. Slowly but surely, it's working  :

Have been looking at my transmission and the 2 PTO's ive got, the handbrake drum on the back of my transmission was wrong for the type of universal joints ive got so John at Midwest is sending the correct type for the mechanical joints didn't know there were different types ..! you live and learn..

Heres a picture of my Transmission with the mechanical going in place of the detroit type, the holes don't line up correctly and it doesn't sit flush.

Ive got 2 different types of PTO one looks to be a later type and has what seams to be 2 gears in place where the other only has 1,and i couldn't declutch the first so i will have to take it apart to see whats going on there..
The first PTO i have and was attached to the side of the transmission has 36991 on the side ?

The second one that came with my winch is a 6201-E,i think the manual say its should be a 6201-B.? and its the one im missing the lever for..

Finally got the correct type of intermediate shaft ,the one sent with the truck didn't fit the universal joints,so probably for the 3 1/4 ton Dodge ?, the holes where too big ,so Midwest came to the rescue again and sent the correct one..its now all cleaned up and fitted with new joints and ready for the spray gun.

I also sorted through all the loose nuts bolts and washers that came with the truck and sorted them into size and type using the gauge i got, very handy piece of kit, i now know what i have at a glance, well worth doing.

Been tackling the bell housing over the past couple of days along with the air filter and other little bits.

I used my angle grinder with a brush attachment a very quick way of getting rid of the rust, and also a quick way of filling the garage with rust dust...had to have all the doors and windows open after that..

Ive been trying to get the governor off the spare manifold i have ,but with no luck, first i tried to gently hammer it off, then i tried heat, then i cut the gasket away using my hacksaw then gently prising it off with a large screwdriver, well none of the worked and i managed to crack the governor base,so i then proceeded to hacksaw the governor off on one side from top to bottom, then hammered the rest round until i was able to unscrew the stud holding it onto the manifold, then the other side,so now need a new governor and one stud as i managed to break one ..and I'm now trying to get the spacer off the top of the manifold with a lot of heat and an impact driver,it hasn't moved at all,so its sitting in the garage waiting my next step..!

Excellent work. Getting the clutch done the way you are will provide miles of trouble free driving. Good move.

Ive now taken my clutch to pieces and cleaned up the old clutch parts,it was only then that i realised i probably didn't need a new pressure plate.

Wasn't sure if i should spray the clutch parts as they were just bare metal before,? I will probably spray them the same as Oz did with his and leave them in primer, should give them a bit of protection..

The pressure plate was only £20 off eBay including postage..

Also had a rebuild kit delivered

The only problem now is how to get the nuts back on...! i didn't realise before i took it apart you need a special compression tool to compress the clutch springs enough to be able to get the nuts on.. :(

Ive also got a larger clutch kit that came with the truck ,this one has 4 levers ,and not the 3 they normally come with.?

Shall i go with what was on the clutch originally or replace it with the 4 lever clutch unit?
