some gauges for sale.

Post by Peterdodge6volt » Wed May 16, 2018 1:17 am

Hi all
I am selling few gauges.

The GAS gauge and ampere gauges were off 42 slat jeep.
The Gas gauge I did some little work on, it work on sender unit and the face plate has been repaired,
The ampere gauges did some cleaning on bezel as the original paint was pealing off, it's a NOS.
The fuel gauges works on sender unit when tested. Correct for GBT ford, ford blitz, later Bren gun carrier,

I believe the gauge listed as for a G8T Ford truck is incorrect. Ford was using Stewart Warner gauges as can be seen here:

Here is a GTB dash....made by Ford. Look at it this way, Stewart Warner was supplying Ford with the basic four gauges (plus speedo in some) for the jeep with the exception of some early 1942 jeeps AFAIK, and they certainly supplied them in all later GPWs....so again, I would wonder who it was that said the one you have was "correct"?

Hi Chuck
The picture you post are all repro gauges on the GTB panel

The early ones had long needle fuel gauges SW 1942 till late 1943,
Short needle fuel gauges SW they use in late 43 till mid March
The king seely fuel gauges was use mid March till mid Korea war.
Because they did not have enough short needle fuel gauges SW, so they use king seely fuel gauges.
And don't forget king seely gauges we're built by ford too.

I mentioned early last year when I post on someone post. That I had a friend a very close old friend who gave to me as a gives the book stories of his father and his grandfather during the war and Korea war, they were building military vehicles
And I had a lot of information about gauges, I went to check how many pages on the book and it has 87 pages of gauges in different year and ran out of stock of gauges and when was gauges change to different types brands and when was the Last gauges built.
And I am sorry I am not yet going to release the secrets yet of the book to this form. The book I have it's just gauges only.

Here is the picture of the mid 45
It's has the fuel gauges on it

Also if you write GTB Burma truck gauges on website images, I see so many pictures of GTB Burma on website have these fuel gauges on it.

Peter.

Hmmm....I'm not too sure they are not post-war replacements...

Here is an early GTB with the long needle Fuel & Amperes:

Here is what I believe is a late GTB with the short needle Amperes and...the SW style Fuel gauge remnants:

I have only seen a few GTBs around here but they usually are fitted with SW gauges .In addition, I have seen a couple wreckers that also have the short needle SW gauges in them but they were paintcan lid style.
